Tooth Removal

The thought of removing a tooth can be scary. Whenever possible, we will help you to save your natural tooth. However, sometimes even the most heroic dentistry cannot save a very badly damaged tooth. If you have persistant pain with advanced tooth decay or gum disease, we may suggest removal of the tooth as your best option. However, not all is lost as we have many ways to help you replace the tooth should you miss the tooth.

Tooth extraction is a fairly routine procedure and is painless with local anaesthetic. The location and size of the tooth will determine how long the process will take. For example, a front tooth with a single root will require a considerably less time than a molar with multiple roots, or a wisdom tooth. Gentle removal and protection of the surrounding gum is important to ensure you heal quickly after treatment.
